Starring: Joey Silvera plays a loser who magically enters a porn video. Herchel Savage and Gina Carrera play porn characters who escape into the real world. There performances are fine and the supporting performances by Tamara Longley, Melissa Melendez, Joey Silvera, Sheri St. Clair, Colleen Brennan, Crystal Breeze, Nina Hartley, and Penny Morgan are equally good. Everyone provides a cheerful goofiness that truly elevates the porn material.
Even though its shot on video, I've always thought this was one of the best 80's tapes. This one really tries and succeeds at being different and special. The sex scenes are energetic, and the dialogue scenes are enjoyable. There's a lighter-than-air feel inhabiting the whole production. The idea of the movie is trully original predating Purple Rose of Cairo and The Last Action Hero, both with similar plots.
Excellent. Not a bad scene in the bunch. There's real enjoyment by all the principals, and all the sex is germaine to the plot. My favorite scene comes early, with the unbelievable Melissa Melendez. But the closing romp with Joey Silvera and Tamara is almost as good. Let's face it, any video with a 4 to 1, female to male ratio knows what it's doing.
The spirit of the film. Most porn nowadays has this depressing air to it. With the Pornogothics and Seven Deadly Sins, they've made the sex dark and foreboding; the gonzo films do as well. Here, there's an all-too-rare happiness and glow to the sex scenes and the non-sex scenes. Everyone just seemed to be happy to be part of this one.
One more Melissa Melendez scene certainly would have been welcome, and they could have used Crytal Breeze more, but certainly no major complaints.
This is one of my favorites, and always makes me happy to watch again. More than likely, it's the movie's cool premise of porn actually making somebody's life better, that draws me back to this one. A definite 10. It's wonderful how an original script and a fun cast can overcome a low budget.
